“Ski Local Support Local” – Fundraiser

February 4, 2022 Posted by Mike Edwards

We are once again joining the Nordiq Canada Nationwide Club Fundraising Campaign “Ski Local – Support Local”.  This is a fundraiser aimed at raising $500,000 for clubs to help support cross country skiing across Canada.

Our Telemark goal is to raise $10,000 through this campaign.  The $ raised will go towards enhancing our youth programming to make sure we have quality coaching and programming and we are investing in the future of our sport and our community.

Tax Receipt:  Normally Telemark cannot offer tax receipts for donations but with this fundraiser a tax receipt will be given through Nordiq Canada. 94% of all funds raised will come back to Telemark. Take advantage of the tax receipt while you can.

Matching funds: Cross-Country BC is adding a matching funds incentive with $1,000 in matching funds on the first $2,000 raised.  Please donate now to make sure we can fully use the matching funds.

Please click here to go the donation page to find out more and to donate.  The campaign ends March 20th 2022. Please help us to reach our goal.  “Ski Local – Support Local”

Welcome Back Red Moose Immigration Services as a Telemark Sponsor

January 6, 2022 Posted by Mike Edwards

The Telemark Nordic Club would like to  welcome back Red Moose Immigration Services as a Club sponsor for their third year.

Nicole and Robert Kleemaier of Red Moose Immigration Services in Kelowna are avid cross-country skiers and  have been long time, active Telemark members.  They wanted to give something back to the Club and have become a dedicated sponsor. You may have seen their banner as the backdrop for the season pass photo this year.  You will definitely see Nicole and Robert around the trails in their distinctive Red Moose outfits.

Red Moose supports foreign nationals in their efforts to get a visitor visa, study permit, work permit or permanent resident permit. They also help employers who want to hire those individuals. If you need these kinds of services please think of Nicole and Robert and Red Moose Immigration Services.

Telemark Now Open for XC Skiing and Snowshoeing for the Season!

December 18, 2021 Posted by Mike Edwards

Thanks Mother Nature for all the beautiful cold, fluffy snow over the last few days!  Telemark now has enough snow to bring out our big snowcat grooming machine and we are OPEN for the season.  Come check out the trails and see some of the new additions at Telemark this year like our new parking lot, Solar power system and renovated rental room.

If you are a season passholder please come and pick up your season pass on your first ski or snowshoe and remember to bring your pass every time you come skiing.

Day users please remember you can purchase your day passes or rentals on Shopify to help  make things easy more COVID friendly. You can still come into the day lodge though.

Please be aware that COVID protocols are in place.  We will have limited numbers of people allowed in our buildings for a short time to pick up passes or rentals or a snack/drink… but…people are not allowed to stay in the day lodge to eat lunch, change clothes or socialize. Vaccination Passports are NOT required

Welcome to the 2021-22 Season?

Public opening delayed until Dec 20th

December 10, 2021 Posted by Mike Edwards

While Telemark does have some snow now and we have been preparing the trails we DO NOT currently have enough snow to groom properly and open the trails safely for public skiing.  We have about an 8-10cm base but we need a minimum of a 20cm base to groom properly and safely.  It looks like  we will get a few small snowfalls over the next week and we hope to be open by Dec 20.

In the mean time the Telemark day lodge will be open 9am to 5pm and staffed starting Monday Dec 13th.  So you can come up to pick up your season  pass, drop off some skis for  pre-season waxing, check out our new parking lot, go for a walk on the K9 trails and have a hot chocolate.

Thanks for a Successful Ski Swap, Work Party Day and AGM last month.

November 7, 2021 Posted by Mike Edwards

The last couple of weekends of October were busy ones at Telemark.

On Saturday Oct 23rd we held our annual ski swap at Kelowna Cycle.  The swap raised an incredible $7000 for our Competitive Youth Program – a new record by far.  Thanks  to all the volunteers who helped make it run smoothly, to Kelowna Cycle for hosting the swap and to all the people who consigned and/or  purchased equipment.

On Saturday Oct 30th more than 75  volunteers joined us at Telemark for our annual work party  to help us get ready for the coming winter.  Lots of great projects got done… from firewood splitting to fence/bench painting to rental room organizing to trail brushing and more. After all the work was done we hosted a free bbq.  Thanks to everybody for all the work. Bring on the snow!

Right after the work party and bbq we held our AGM here we reported on the successes of the last year and  confirmed out new Board of Directors  Three new directors have joined the Board to replace three departing directors.  The new directors are Sandy Redman – Race Team Liaison Director and Jamie Sprules & Colin McGuinness -Directors at Large. We are looking forward to putting the new directors to work over the next year. To  see a full list of directors please Click here.
