The Team Telemark Competitive Programs are a continuation of Team Telemark’s Youth Development Programs. They are aimed at young skiers 12yrs and up who have a competitive nature and are based on Nordiq Canada’s Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model. Train to Train (T2T) U14 & U16 (12-15yrs) – $940 (No GST)
The Train to Train (T2T) (U14 & U16) is a competitive program for skiers who have completed Track Attack or are at a similar level and are ready to make more commitment to training and racing.
The T2T program will be led by qualified volunteer coaches with support from Head Coach Emily Young and oversight by competitive program manager Chris Halldorson.
Two training cohorts form the T2T program.
- T2T – 1 for the younger or less developed/experienced athletes.
- T2T – 2 for the older more developed/experienced athletes.
The Goals of the T2T program are to:
- Foster a strong sense of team.
- Development of overall fitness and ski specific skills.
- Focus on aerobic training and building base fitness.
- Develop the skills to participate in a progressive training program.
- Develop sound technique.
- Compete in biathlon and cross-country ski races up to the BC Championships level for younger ages and the National Championships for older ages.
- Learn to give back to the skiing community by mentoring Jackrabbit, Track Attack and Biathlon Bears skiers.
Program fee includes:
- 3 x 1.5hr-2hr sessions/week Train to Train ski training sessions (Tuesdays, Thursday and Saturdays Sept-April).
- Technical race support.
Not included in the program fee:
- Nordiq Canada Racing License.
- Athletes must supply their own personal ski equipment.
- Telemark Team Uniforms.
- Race fees.
- Telemark Nordic Trail Pass.
- Train to Train Summer Add-on: Most T2T-2 athletes will want to train a bit through the summer, especially those who will be transitioning to L2C. We offer a summer program for T2T athletes for $160 extra if registered during the program registration in the fall. The T2T Summer Add-On fee increases to $270 in the spring.
Learn to Compete (L2C) U18 & U20 16-19yrs – $1490 (Plus GST)
The Learn to Compete (L2C) (U18 & U20) is a competitive program for skiers who have completed T2T program (or equivalent) and want to commit to year-round training and racing to meet their goals in nordic skiing. This program is led by Head Coach Emily Young with support from qualified volunteers and oversight by competitive program manager Chris Halldorson. Note: Some keen and well developed 15yr old (U16) athletes may be ready for the L2C program. We may modify the National LTAD so that those who are ready can start the L2C program at 15yrs old.
The goals of the program are to:
- Foster a strong sense of team.
- Incorporate year round training.
- Continue development of overall fitness and ski specific skills.
- Introduce and focus on advanced training methods.
- Focus on advanced technique improvement.
- Compete at the national and NorAm level. Advanced athletes are interested in competing at the World Junior Championships level.
Program fee includes:
- 3-4 x L2C ski training sessions/week throughout the entire year.
- Individualized training plan delivered through Training Peaks and separate training log.
- Technical race support.
Not included in the program fee:
- Nordiq Canada Racing License.
- Athletes must supply their own personal training and ski equipment.

Learn to Compete Lite (L2C-Lite) U18 & U20 16-19yrs – $940 (plus GST)
The Learn to Compete Lite (L2C Lite) (U18 & U20) is a competitive program for skiers who have completed the T2T program (or equivalent) and want to continue racing and training for Nordic skiing but are not able to commit to a full year training plan or may have other commitments. The program runs from September to March. Athletes will train regularly and compete alongside their teammates through the fall and winter with some modifications to their program. This program is led by Head Coach Emily Young with support from qualified volunteers. Note: As this is a competitive program, athletes in the L2C-Lite program are expected to maintain a some base level of fitness in the off-season and be interested in competitions to join this program. Telemark Nordic also offers a non-competitive Adventures program for those not interested in competitions.
The goals of the program are to:
- Foster a strong sense of team.
- Focus on Fall/Winter training and racing for nordic skiing.
- Continue development of overall fitness and ski specific skills.
- Focus on technique improvement.
Program fee includes:
- 3 x L2C-lite ski training sessions/week through September-March.
- Professionally delivered practices in a team environment.
- Technical race support.
Not included in the program fee:
- Nordiq Canada Racing License.
- Athletes must supply their own personal training and ski equipment.
- Individualized training plans/training logs.
- Telemark Nordic Trail Pass.
- Team Telemark van fares.
- Race entry fees.
- Select camp fees.
- Select trip fees.
Train to Compete (T2C) and Post Secondary Program U23 (19+yrs)- $2100 (Plus GST)
The Train to Compete (T2C) & Post Secondary Program (U23) is competitive program for those who have completed the L2C program and are ready for a full-time program or who want to attend post-secondary school at the same time as training to compete at a national level.
This program is led by Head Coach Emily Young with assistance from biathlon head coach and competitive program manager Chris Halldorson.
The goals of the T2C program are to:
- Foster a strong sense of team.
- Incorporate full year training.
- Provide opportunities for athletes to train and attend university or college.
- Continue development of overall fitness and ski specific skills.
- Focus on advanced training techniques.
- Incorporation of integrated support such as Physiology, massage, strength etc.
- Refine advanced technique.
- Racing up to Nationals/NorAm level with some international competition possible.
Program fee includes:
- 3-4 x ski training sessions/week throughout the entire year.
- Individualized training plan.
- Technical race support.
Not included in the program fee:
- Nordiq Canada Racing License.
- Athletes must supply their own personal ski equipment.

- Telemark Season Pass membership.
- Team Telemark van fares.

Racing Masters (19yrs+) – $940 (Plus GST)
The Racing Masters program is a competitive program for adults who interested in competing in the sport. Participants train for, and competing in BC Cup and loppet events.
Ski sessions in this program are led by volunteer coaches under the supervision of Head Coach Emily Young.
The goals of the Racing Masters program are to:
- Foster a strong sense of team.
- Continue the development of fitness ski specific skills.
- Introduce and focus on advanced training methods.
- Focus on advanced technique improvement.
- Compete in cross country races up to the national level.
Program fee includes:
- Volunteer led dryland and on-snow training sessions.
- 2 training sessions per week September-March
- Physical training plan.
- Technical race support.
Not included in the program fee:
- Nordiq Canada Racing licence.
- Telemark Nordic Trail Pass (Required).
- Athletes must supply their own Personal Ski Equipment.

The Team Telemark Youth Competitive Programs run year around and the coaches maintain a separate website, race team Telemark which includes technical resources and an event calendar that is regularly updated with training, racing, fundraising and social events.
