The event takes place in the Telemark Nordic Centre biathlon range and trails. Telemark will remain fully open to public & member skiing and snowshoeing that weekend but there may be some short-term restrictions for public/member skiers on some trails near our Biathlon area.

We have been working hard over the last couple of seasons towards building the “Panorama Cabin”.  We hoped to start construction last fall but the approval process took longer than expected and our funding application to the BC Tourism Growth Program was not successful. We now have the BC Government approval which includes environmental impact assessment and  First Nations consultation. Full approval will be in place once we have the final engineered plans this spring. Thanks to the generous donations of individuals like yourself and some corporate commitments we now have about 50% of the budgeted $100,000+ for the project. We will try again to apply for some additional funding but your donation will help to close that gap.

The cabin is planned for a spectacular spot overlooking the Okanagan valley 1/2 way along the Panorama Ridge ski and snowshoe trails. It will provide a challenging yet accessible destination for everybody as well as shelter for those needing a rest while on a longer adventure. The cabin is planned be made to modern building standards complete with covered deck space and plenty of room in its 18’x24′ footprint.

Telemark’s Biathlon Program is hosting a biathlon demo day and is inviting interested people to join! Biathlon is a unique winter sport that combines cross country skiing with marksmanship.

New for this season, Telemark Nordic is using EcoAims biathlon systems. EcoAims are safe, easy to operate optical biathlon systems. There are no projectiles, rather they operate similar to the guns used in the 1980’s game “Duckhunt”. Thanks to grants from ViaSport, Biathlon BC, Biathlon Canada and the International Biathlon Union, Telemark has several new EcoAims biathlon units for this season.

Equipment required

• All participants will need to bring their own cross country ski equipment. Equipment can be rented from Telemark Nordic’s Rental Shop.
• All participants will need to present a valid season or trail pass for the event. Trail passes can be purchased at Telemark’s Main lodge.
• All participants should dress in layers appropriate for the temperature.
• All participants should have gloves (not mitts) in order to operate the EcoAims.

Are you new to XC Skiing? Are you new to Telemark? We would love to make you feel welcome by giving you a FREE XC ski lesson/tour at the Telemark Nordic Centre. Rentals are also included but a Trail Pass ($20) must be purchased.

Bust off Your Holiday Belly on JAN 1, 2025 at Telemark Nordic

Nothing like Jan 1 to kick of your fitness New Year’s resolution goals. Join us Jan 1 at 11am with all of us for a 1hr skiing challenge. How many laps of our 2.5k course can you complete in an hr? One canned food item donation is asked for entrance fee. This loop is beginner friendly, and invites people of all ages and abilities (classic or skate). Rentals available at the Telemark daylodge.
This event is FREE for all season passholders/member or day users. It is kiddo and beginner friendly too, so don’t be shy to come join the fun. We are all in this fitness resolution together! At the end, we will total the distance of all participants and see how far we, as a group, can ski from one side of the province to the other! Prizes are offered.

No pre registration needed. The event use a timing chip to keep track so skiers need to bring their canned food item to the centre stadium 30min before the start to exchange for their chip. Announcers will be at the ready and everyone takes off at the same time. If you cross the line under 45min), you can go do another lap so long as you finish It within the hr. Have fun and get your ski on!
