Integrated Power Systems (IPS) Supports Team Telemark with $ percentage of Sales

February 10, 2021 Posted by Mike Edwards

It may be cold and wintery now but spring is coming soon.  Now is a good time to be thinking of spring projects like a Grid Tie Solar System from IPS!

The folks at IPS are going to donate 2% of material sales to Team Telemark for every solar system a season pass holder/member installs!

We love our sponsors!  Give Mike Edwards a call at the lodge if you want more information or call IPS (250) 769-2843 and tell them Mike from Telemark sent you! We received this letter from one of our members regarding an installed system last fall.

My Mini Power Plant
“Curiosity finally got the better of me.  After seeing that IPS logo on the Trail Conditions page every day all winter, I decided to click the link and see what this Telemark sponsor was all about.  My wife and I have been interested in solar power for many years, but it was too expensive and we did not know how to get it done.  Last fall we turned on our new mini power plant and we are thrilled.

This new solar technology rocks. When it is producing at peak (5 kW), it powers our entire house including air conditioning.  What we have is a “grid tie” system, which means there are no batteries or complex control modules, and we get to sell our excess power to BC Hydro.

For us, it is “the right thing to do” because nearly 40% of greenhouse gas arises from electricity generation.  Solar generation on the roof is something that every homeowner can do to help solve the climate change problem.  At current prices for solar panels plus the BC Hydro Grid Tie deal, it also turns out to be a pretty good investment.  Plus, people are saying that the market value of our house has probably increased more than the cost of the system.

IPS did a great job.  The system went in quickly and the panels look fantastic on the roof. It makes me smile every time I walk past the power monitor and see that $negative number telling me I am selling power to BC Hydro!”

Mounting rails go on the roof.
Panels going in
Finished product. 18 panels
Live Dashboard Showing Production – generating power from 5:00 AM until 9:30 PM! At peak, it runs the entire house including air conditioner.
Doing “the right thing”. Credit to J. Zunti for the slide.

Team Telemark Fundraising Opportunity…”Ski Local – Support Local”

January 29, 2021 Posted by Mike Edwards

This year the Team Telemark fundraiser is joining the Nordiq Canada Nationwide Club Fundraising Campaign “Ski Local – Support Local”.  This is a fundraiser aimed at raising $250,000 for clubs to help support cross country skiing across Canada.

Our Telemark goal is to raise $10,000 through this campaign.  The $ raised will go towards enhancing our youth programming to make sure we have quality coaching and programming and we are investing in the future of our sport.

Tax Receipt:  Normally Telemark cannot offer tax receipts for donations but with this fundraiser a tax receipt will be given through Nordiq Canada. 95% of all funds raised will come back to Telemark. Take advantage of the tax receipt while you can.

Matching funds: Cross-Country BC is adding a matching funds incentive with $1,000 in matching funds on the first $2,000 raised.  In addition an anonymous donor has committed $2,000 in direct matching funds just for Telemark.  So the first $4,000 raised by Telemark is matched by an additional $3,000 putting us well on our way to our goal.  Donate now to make sure we can fully use the matching funds.

Please click here to go the donation page to find out more and to donate.  The campaign ends March 19th 2021. Please help us to reach our goal.  “Ski Local – Support Local”

New Snowshoe Trail at Telemark

December 18, 2020 Posted by Mike Edwards

Telemark has a new snowshoe trail!  Ridgeview is across the road from the parking lot in the K9 trail area. Dog or no dog, check it out. It’s on a ridge above the current trails and although it’s rated most difficult, take your time up the climb and you should be OK. On a clear day the view is stunning and different from what we usually see from Telemark, with views of mountains, lake and the farms you pass on the way up to Telemark. The trail distance is 1.9 km. but you have to access it off the main snowshoe trail so the total distance is 3.4 or 3.8 km depending on which way you go. Check out the Map here.
