Food and Facilities at the Telemark Nordic Centre
There will be a full menu of amazing and nutritious hot food available for purchase every day, prepared and served by award winning Waterfront Wines Catering. Check back here closer to the event because we will be posting menus and prices as soon as head chef Mark decides what gems he will offer you. Mark is a “ski race Dad” so you can be sure the selection of food will be ideal for the athletes!
Recent renovations in our lodge mean there is plenty of room to rest, get warm, and chat with your friends between races. In order to preserve space for the humanoids, we will be strictly enforcing a “no bags in the lodge” policy during the event. All bags must be stored in our steel groomer shed.
About Telemark Nordic Centre
The Telemark Nordic Centre is 1000 meters above sea level, a comfortable competition elevation for athletes who train near sea level. The probability of good snow conditions at this time of year is high. In fact, in the 31 years since the Club was founded, it has never come to pass that the trails experienced low or un-skiable snow in February. That calendar period tends to reliably deliver the best skiing of the year with reliably moderate temperatures between – 5C and -10C, overcast skies, calm wind, and thus favorable waxing and racing conditions that are unlikely to change during the course of a race.
Grooming
Our primary piece of equipment is a Piston Bully Edge snow cat with a 330 HP Mercedes Diesel Engine. It is equipped with a four meter wide hydraulic controlled front renovator for cutting ice and hard packed snow. The rear implement is a 4.9-meter wide hydraulically controlled snow tiller with three hydraulically controlled track setters. The track setters can be spaced to set three classic tracks anywhere between 0.7 and 1.8 meters center to center.
Our secondary unit is a two-meter YTS Ginzugroomer with a YTS Ginzugroomer Classic Tracksetter. We pull it with one of two machines, either our turbocharged diesel-powered Tracked UTV Kubota or our 600 CC Skidoo Skandic Snowmobile.
